There aren't enough enemies in the entire standard campaign for you to naturally max your weapon skills, so this is *the* time to do it. Starting out it's not guaranteed wins, but you continue to gain experience even when you lose whereas they remain static.įinally, it is almost always far more efficient to focus your experience grinding on a single weapon type when you're doing this, considering the extremes to which Skill benefits your attacks, and starting around level 11, once you unlock your first skill and want it to trigger at every possible moment so it will rank up quickly. This lets you focus on enemies like Vapor who only has machineguns to attack you with.

Against single attack, high damage weapons such as rifles and missiles this won't help quite as much as having significantly higher HP so the part survives the hit, but against rapidfire weapons, you will take far less damage over time. The reason for high DF is due to this stat being responsible for a seemingly flat reduction to incoming damage, per hit.

Note that until your Short skill gets to these high output values, it may be more efficient to start your early fights with a Short single hit rifle to weaken a single part to give your rapidfire weapon a great chance of breaking it on follow-up attacks. The reason for Short is due to the astronomical scaling of multi-hit weapons as they are skilled up: the damage bonus granted by your weapon skill adds a flat bonus to *each hit of damage* from a weapon rather than a percentage, and as perhaps an oversight, this makes even damage values as low as 2 scale up to astronomical values, which means a single volley from a rapidfire weapon can easily destroy every single part in one attack.

It perhaps will take a long while the first time you have access to the Arena on the OCU path with it far quicker as soon as the next selection of gear unlocks, but you very easily can drastically flush your bank account by having your character focus exclusively on Short category weapons, and the highest 'DF' you can manage on your parts.
